Last night Bartlett’s hosted their first annual beer dinner to a lucky group of 31. The dinner was prepared by Chefs Gary Sanders and Adam Schwartz and each course was paired with a beer from Dark Horse Brewery, which is located in Marshall, Michigan.
Tables were set, Dark Horse’s “Amber” was chilling and guests began to arrive at about 6:30 pm. First course was a smoked amish chicken waldorf wrap, which was delightful and fresh. Five more courses followed, which included a charcuterie presentation, baby frisee and lamb bacon salad, smoked whitefish & diver sea scallop, braised java rubbed beer short ribs and finally the warm dark chocolate & blueberry brownie with a butter pecan gelato. Beers ranged from Dark Horse’s well-known “Crooked Tree” IPA to a 13% ABV American Strong Ale, which Chef Gary paired with the whitefish & scallops ~ a spicy dish that worked extremely well with the dark and heavy beer.
Guests walked away with their bellies full and with smiles on their faces. We hope to continue this tradition and have another dinner this summer on our screened in porch.
